How One Family Celebrated Two Milestones with an Unforgettable Carnival-Themed Party

When people think of live guest portraits, weddings are usually the first event that comes to mind. But one of our favorite celebrations this spring was something completely different. In early May we had the joy of participating in a Carnival-themed party honoring a couple's 15th wedding anniversary and 40th birthdays at the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville. It was a celebration that proved every milestone deserves to be unforgettable.
From the moment guests walked through striped carnival curtains, they were immersed in a fun, colorful atmosphere designed for guests of all ages. Oversized marquee signs, a vibrant balloon arch, and string lights transformed the venue into a playful yet elevated celebration. Even the smallest details, like vintage Coca-Cola bottles filled with flowers, added to the nostalgic charm.

The evening was filled with interactive experiences around every corner. Guests enjoyed a delicious buffet with everything from carnival favorites to pasta, fresh vegetables, and desserts, along with a full bar, coffee, lemonade, hot and iced tea, and soda. A customizable popcorn station let everyone create their own sweet and salty snack mix, while a live screen-printing station gave guests the opportunity to make custom event T-shirts to take home! The Couple even had a personalized logo for the event which we included as a stamp on the portraits.

Our favorite part, of course, was creating live watercolor guest portraits throughout the evening. Guests simply stopped by for a quick reference photo before heading back to enjoy the party. While they mingled, danced, and spent time with friends and family, our artists transformed those photos into hand-painted watercolor portraits. Throughout the night, finished portraits were displayed on a wooden display wall, hung by the twinkling string lights zigzagging across it, creating a beautiful installation that guests loved browsing before taking home their personalized artwork.
