One of our favorite parts of wedding days is watching guests discover they're taking home something completely unexpected.
Instead of a traditional wedding favor, they leave with a hand-painted watercolor portrait of themselves. A keepsake they'll frame, display, and remember long after the celebration.
This past May, we had the pleasure of painting live guest portraits at a beautiful wedding at Mint Springs Farm. The day couldn't have been more perfect. Guests gathered outside for cocktail hour surrounded by lush green landscaping, vibrant pink florals, and one of Tennessee's most charming venues. While everyone enjoyed drinks, conversation, and the spring weather, we were busy turning those special moments into watercolor portraits.

So... What Exactly Are Watercolor Guest Portraits?
Think of them as part wedding favor, part live entertainment.
Throughout your wedding, guests stop by our table for a quick reference photo before heading back to enjoy cocktail hour or the reception. While they're celebrating with friends and family, we hand paint their portrait using watercolor pens.
By the end of the evening, their finished portrait is waiting for them to take home.
One of the best parts is that guests love watching the collection grow throughout the night. It's so fun seeing people stop by to find their portrait or admire everyone else's paintings as they dry.
How Many Portraits Can You Paint?
Depending on your timeline and the package you choose, we typically paint between 50 and 150 portraits during an event. Since many paintings include couples, families, or small groups together, that usually covers weddings with 100 to 300 guests. We typically paint one or two guests in a portrait at a time. If you're planning a larger celebration, multiple artists can often be added so even more guests can receive a portrait.
Can the Portraits Match My Wedding?
Absolutely! This is one of our favorite parts. We love incorporating little details that make your portraits feel uniquely yours.
Couples often choose to include:
A custom wedding crest or monogram
Your names and wedding date
A personalized logo stamped or pre-printed on each portrait card
A watercolor illustration of your venue printed along the bottom
Design elements that coordinate with your invitations or wedding colors

When Will My Guests Receive Their Portraits?
The portraits are painted live throughout your wedding, so guests take them home before the night is over. If there are portraits that were not picked up we are often able to leave them with the planner or a designated family member so that your guests can still have the chance to take their unique portrait home. Throughout the evening, guests often come back to check on their portrait or to see who else’s portraits they recognize. It naturally becomes part of the entertainment and gives everyone something unique to experience together.
